New Paintings

My current series of paintings explore color fields and motion.  They’re reminiscent of Op art, but this work is more than a 2D visual experience:

Oldies

2005

In 2005, I was living in New York and painting, depicting scenes of personal narratives.  These paintings were painted from memories of people that I had encountered on my commute to my studio in Queens:

 

 

2004

These oil paintings were plein air backgrounds with people painted in from memory back at the studio.   It was a method  of painting that I was experimenting with but abandoned for painting solely from my imagination, see train paintings above.  I think it has some merit, a synthesis between the real and the imaginary:
